Coach Conversations: Matt Dixon and Nutrition
One of the great frontiers of endurance performance is the science of exercise nutrition. A landscape of fad diets, confusion, supplements and habits can create, or break, performance evolution. As an endurance coach, I find that the topic of nutrition creates the biggest confusion for many athletes, and this is not due to a lack of information. The issue is that so much of the information is contradictory, or based in pseudoscience. In addition, the information might be valid, but simply not appropriate for the training athlete.
In this video, I break down the components of nutrition that are important to all athletes, and also discuss the absolute critical piece of the nutrition puzzle, that is most commonly missed by endurance athletes. This is obviously a big topic to dissect, but if you would like to explore the subject deeper and gain insight into the performance habits I suggest, feel free to read the nutrition and fueling chapter of The Well Built Triathlete.
