Power meter support capabilities have grown alongside the greater advances in technology. Today firmware updates can be delivered directly to a power meter via over the air (OTA), without needing to remove the power meter from the bike. Rides can also be uploaded OTA, and easily sent in for queries.
Yet, some features are best left to a more traditional approach. Take our AAA battery, for example. A battery provides one major advantage over a rechargeable one: instant power. With a lithium AAA battery each P1 pedal can provide 60 hours of data. Should something happen mid-ride a simple battery change puts watts back on your display – instead of riding sans power, hurriedly pedaling to get back to a wall charger.
We've been in the power meter business since before the year 2000. And with nearly two decades of experience, we've learned a lot about how to measure power. At the heart of the P1 pedals is an innovative and propriety approach to power measurement, an approach that's as robust as it is accurate with an emphasis on calibration and offset.
Like we said, it's proprietary, so we can't get too heavy in the details here. What we can tell you is that, in short, our system sees less data float compared to others. And that's a feature worth writing home about.
