    Comments about PowerCal Bluetooth Smart:

The best value for power training. Accurate enough to get power feedback (within +/-5% accuracy for 20 and 60 minute threshold tests) and the easiest system by far to swap between bikes. Have been using 4+ years and still going strong. Used with Edge 500 and 510 (Have ANT+) without a problem. System even tells me when battery is running low and you simply swap the CR2032 coin cell battery out. Have only replaced battery twice in 4 years after 15k+ miles.

Very simple to use product for not much more money than a standard heart rate strap.
The data is not as accurate as a full priced power meter but at this price you wouldnt expect that.

        Comments about PowerCal Bluetooth Smart:

This is my second one -- I bought it just to have a backup, though my first one has been flawless going on a couple years. It's a great product. No it's not a full-blown power meter but it's not meant to be. It's also only a FRACTION of the cost of one. It gives you a rough estimation of your overall power, and great to give you an idea what your NP, IF and TSS are. You can compare from one ride to the next. If you're a road racer and using power for training then you'll need a true power meter but as a mountain biker just looking for a ballpark range then this product is perfect.

How can you build a blue product, that doesn't work with your own computer. Is worthless. Doesn't work with any other third party app, with the exception of strava. I can't figure out why. The reason I wanted is to record the workout and track HRV, using a third party app.

            Q:

My wife uses the Ant+ version of the strap (bought just over a year ago) successfully with a 310XT.
I've given her a new 920XT for Christmas. It is picking up the strap as a power sensor but doesn't seem to be seeing it as a HRM.
            Any suggestions

You'll need to pair it separately. Once for HR and another time for Power.

The HR and Power need to be paired separately unless you are using a Joule where you would only pair the HR.

            Q:

I have unsuccessfully tried to pair my PowerTap PowerCal Bluetooth Smart Heart Rate Monitor to CycleOps Virtual trainer using a PC, tablet and a phone, and have tried to connect it to 2 different Garmin 500-series GPS. NOTHING. Is there a manual available on how to connect it and how to troubleshoot it to validate it even works? It arrived a week ago so the batter should be new and it SHOULD work....but doesn't.

            Q:

            User weight.
As an enhancement you ought to create an app for the powercal, enabling users to calibrate for more accurate output. From a calibration Ride on a hometrainer.

I get low output due to my bodyweight. This could be eliminated with a simple setup of powercal.

            Love it otherwise.
